Life Time Athletic is a privately held company with the passion to promote and provide comprehensive a healthy living, healthy aging, and healthy entertainment lifestyle. The goal at Life Time is to deliver both a personalized as well as a scientific approach to long-term health and wellness.
It sounds nice, but what does that mean to be a member at this state-of-the-art facility? The best way to understand the benefits of being a member is to ask one about their experience. For more information about the club, I asked Ed Ellsasser, President at PrimeGroup Insurance, Inc., a full-line Commercial Insurance, Personal Insurance, and Group Benefits agency.
- Before learning about Life Time Athletic, what were you looking for in a gym?
What I liked about Life Time was that the team attacked my goals from a scientific standpoint. Once joining, their team sat me down with Registered Dietitian, Liz Wilson. At that point both my cholesterol and my triglycerides were too high. Liz did several tests and got me dialed in as far as to educate me on the correct supplements to take as well as to provide me a nutrition plan to improve upon my diet.
- How long have you been a member at Life Time?
Through word of mouth, I was referred to the gym and I joined two and a half years ago in January. Ever since, Life Time has continually exceeded my expectations.
- What is your gym regiment and why? Also, because the gym is quite extensive, what is it that you actually utilize at Life Time?
My routine begins with a workout from 6:00 AM to 7:00 AM. Afterwards, I shower and get ready to leave for the office, which is right down the street. On the weekends, I enjoy participating in Life Time’s spin or yoga classes, which are taught by instructors who are some of the best in the business. Life Time has top-of-the-line spin bikes and a fantastic yoga space.
I also participate in Lifetime’s Alpha classes which are small group training sessions twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Liz Wilson leads these challenging workouts which have given me great results.
- How does Life Time’s services and amenities compare to traditional gyms?
Quite honestly, it is the best facility in the area. They facilitate regular goal-based challenges to assist members in reaching goals while having some friendly competitive fun. Currently there is a 60-Day Challenge where members compete with other gym members where you choose to track weight or body fat progress.
With that being said, from joining Life Time, I have lost and kept off 15 pounds as well as cut my body fat in half. Through constant work and motivation alongside the support from Life Time, I was able to discontinue my cholesterol and triglyceride medicine.
Also, because I go in the mornings, I regularly take advantage of the healthy breakfasts at its café for a protein shake or other food. Since my office is just down the street, I occasionally will pop over for lunch to get a healthy and guilt-free premade meal.
Not only is the fitness equipment cutting-edge, the locker room is amazingly equipped with all the hygienic products you can imagine such as Q-tips, deodorant, mouthwash, etc. Additionally, there is a whirlpool, steam room, sauna, all of which is kept very clean through constant servicing.
Besides the fitness and nutrition aspect, I can come in to Life Time and utilize its business center, which includes Wi-Fi. I have also brought my office team over to the business center for a few “Lunch and Learns” where Nutritionist Liz Wilson spoke with my team on more in-depth information on nutrition.
- Do you continue to take advantage of the dietician and personal training services at Life Time?
Absolutely. Liz tests my anabolic threshold to see if I am utilizing the right fitness zones in order to ensure that I am working within the correct threshold to maximize my results. We also do a bioprint to get dialed into which supplements to take to acquire optimum performance.
