President of Trademark Metals Recycling on the Impact of Metal Recycling

On April 29, Brad Ford, President of Trademark Metals Recycling (TMR), visited That Business Show with Jamie Meloni to talk about his company and share the importance of metal recycling on the community. Trademark Metals Recycling is the largest full-service metal recycling company in Florida. They buy end-of-life automobiles and scrap metal in all shapes, sizes, weights and ages.

Brad Ford began his journey with The David J Joseph Company, the parent company of TMR, back in 2001. He lived in Switzerland for three years serving as DJJ’s International Trading Manager, and was promoted in 2013 to Vice President of Commercial for TMR and again in 2015 to President.

TMR has facilities all over the city of Tampa. Their largest location in Tampa is at the Port of Tampa, but they are also located in Ybor, Clearwater, Pinellas Park and Seffner. Metal Recycling is a great way to make some extra money while supporting a good cause. Instead of throwing away that box of metal products you have lying around, bring it to TMR and you will be paid a fair price for it.

Brad Ford said that at TMR they work very closely with law enforcement to ensure that they are not purchasing stolen property. Since the price of copper has dropped from about $5 a pound to about $2 a pound, Jamie remarked that he has noticed a decline in AC thefts. Unfortunately, many people do try to take advantage of the metal recycling industry, so at TMR they maintain high levels of security. People bringing AC Units must show proof of ownership, receipts are required for other products and for cars a title is required.

Recycling has a “tremendous positive impact on the environment,” says Brad. Most of the metal that is recycled stays in the US and is used for new products. Driving down the highway, there is a good chance most of the metal you see has been recycled.

TMR has partnered with Shriner’s Hospital in an effort to give back to the community. Anyone wanting to contribute can bring their aluminum cans into TMR and the proceeds will go to Shriner’s hospital. Learn more about this exciting partnership here!
