Ken was connected to 4&Co through the Edward Lowe Foundation. The Edward Lowe Foundation was established by Ed and Darlene Lowe in 1985. The Foundation was created to leverage entrepreneurship as a strategy for economic growth and community development. Their entrepreneurship initiatives are focused on second-stage companies — growth-oriented firms that have moved beyond startup but haven’t yet reached maturity. Their peer learning, leadership education and strategic information programs are geared to help these companies continue growing. They also educate communities about the unique challenges second-stagers face, how to work with them — and how to develop the kind of culture they need to flourish.
To scale their impact, the foundation delivers its programs through other entrepreneur support organizations, which includes chambers of commerce, small business development centers, technology councils and economic development agencies. These second stage businesses, such as RevStar Consulting, mentor startups/stage one businesses and pass the lessons they learned on.
Ken is dedicated to helping other businesses thrive in this “post-pandemic” world and is applying the lessons his company learned when pivoting during the pandemic that yielded 4x growth of RevStar Consulting in 2020. We asked Ken what his motivation was to help mentor business owners and he told us “As entrepreneurs we learn to solve various problems along our journey in business. I feel it’s important for me to share my lessons learned with others that are at an earlier stage in their journey.” Entrepreneurs like Ken make up the backbone of our business community here in Tampa and we believe it is important to highlight the efforts he and others are making to help our community overcome the new challenges that came with 2020.
