On August 8, Sareet Majumdar was featured on That Business Show with guest host, Dr. Ron Eccles, a Success Coach for entrepreneurs and professionals. Sareet Majumdar is the President of ICTC Manufacturing Solutions located in Brooksville, Florida. ICTC is a Full-Service Contract Manufacturer of custom wire harnesses, cable assemblies, printed circuit board assemblies and electronic box builds. On That Business Show, Sareet discussed the widely debated issue that American manufacturing is disappearing. However, he explained that due to the advent of technology, there is a noticeably steady increase in the quality of manufacturing jobs in America.
Sareet continued to explain that the products currently manufactured offshore are products that rightfully should be produced offshore. These products include items such as shoes, clothing, etc. Because manufacturing is becoming increasingly automated, future opportunities lie within smart manufacturing and devices. Due to the advantageous opportunities in American manufacturing through intellectual property, the strength of ICTC’s business lies within its hybrid model of partial offshore manufacturing combined with finished and final sales onshore. This helps maintain the intellectual property by keeping key components of the company’s technology within the U.S.
With the progression of smart technology, there is an increased demand for intelligent products. Sareet used LumaStream, Inc. as an example of this concept. ICTC is a contract manufacturer for the LED lighting company. LumaStream uses a very unique patented technology that revolutionizes the LED lighting industry. He explained that not only does the company use more energy efficient LED lighting, but it also can be used to improve the efficiencies of any business. This is achieved through the utilization of smart technology and smart sensors in its lighting. The LED lights are able to collect data and decipher which areas of an office space are not being used, leading to a huge savings for businesses.
Furthermore, ICTC is also a contract manufacturer for Priatek, LLC. Priatek is a company that designs and manages custom prize promotions for local and national businesses under its “in2win” brand. ICTC is manufacturing an interactive advertising kiosk box that allows companies to interact, engage, and market products through a network of touchscreen kiosks located in high-traffic locations such as shopping malls. The “in2win” will transform the way brands attract and connect with consumers, thus, revolutionizing the retail experience with a very unique and groundbreaking business model.
In Texas, ICTC’s bus project exemplifies a perfect example of developing smart technology as well as the collection of intellectual data. ICTC manufactures a product that is able to catch the unlawful passing of school buses though cameras that are videotaping live. On the bus there is a box located above the bus’s stop sign containing cameras with audio and video capabilities. These cameras not only catch unlawful passing but also have the ability to catch any bullying that may occur on the bus as well as monitoring the driver for the speed and duration of each stop. This technology is completely free to the schools while providing a form of accountability for those driving unsafely and ultimately maintaining the safety of the children.
Sareet concluded by sharing how important maintaining a competitive manufacturing advantage in the United States is to providing a strong educational system that promotes designing and engineering. This ensures that individuals in America are able to design smart technology such as software, chips, etc. which will then go on and be created into hardware. Ultimately, it is in the best interest for the U.S. to have higher quality technology jobs because it will not only put the U.S. on the forefront of manufacturing, but will also help improve the quality of life for many Americans.
