As referenced in our previous blogs, RevStar Consulting CEO Ken Pomella is passionate about giving his time and expertise back to the community. We’ve previously covered Ken’s work with computer science students from Hillsborough Community College as well as his mentorship of co-work space 4&CO. In addition to these organizations Ken works with University of South Florida’s USF Connect start-up incubator to help mentor start-ups through the challenges of getting an innovative idea off the ground.
Ken was asked to judge the pitch competition for the latest cohort that came into the USF Connect incubator in fall 2020. After the competition USF Connect asked Ken if he would mentor one of the startups called ShopSmart. ShopSmart is an application that helps people go to the grocery store and find food within a specific set of dieting parameters whether that’s keto, kosher, vegetarian, gluten free, or another set of dietary restrictions. Ken told us that he’s been excited to work with ShopSmart as they are blending his two passions of health and wellness and technology. Ken went on to say, “I love the idea of making eating healthier within a strict diet easier through the usage of an intuitive application.”
Ken’s mentoring of ShopSmart has helped them take an innovative concept and bring it to life with a technology strategy as well as providing a business strategy including creative solutions for the company to problem solve while still in its earliest stages. We are extremely proud of the work Ken is doing in our community helping businesses creatively problem solve and providing insight to new businesses based on Ken’s extensive experience working within start-ups and in the cloud technology space.
