Leadership in Action: Nancy Millan on Innovation and Public Service

We were excited to attend the Rotary Club of Tampa, as we heard Nancy Millan give us the insights on Innovation, Service and Leadership. 

As the Hillsborough County Tax Collector, Nancy Millan has always believed that public service should go beyond the counter, it should reach into the heart of the community. And that’s exactly what she continues to do: bridging the gap between government and everyday citizens through transparency, accessibility, and community engagement.

Nancy Millan’s leadership is grounded in the belief that public service should serve everyone, equitably, efficiently, and compassionately.

Over the past year, her office has rolled out several initiatives aimed at enhancing services while also investing in Hillsborough County community. From expanding online and express services to improving the service experience at branches, Nancy’s mission is to modernize while staying rooted in personal connection.

Here are some examples that have enhanced our community. 

  • 9 locations throughout Hillsborough County (8 branches and one back office)
  • Online services and Express Services for quick pick-ups available at hillstaxfl.gov
  • Self-service kiosks at select Publix stores and MacDill Air Force Base 
  • Mobile ID Go (MIG) program for homebound residents

Under Nancy’s leadership, the Tax Collector’s Office has increased access for residents, maintaining a people-first approach.
