Tampa has been countlessly recognized as one of the fastest-growing cities in America, with it also being the #2 best city for young entrepreneurs and #1 for women entrepreneurs. On October 7th, Craig Richard, President and CEO of the Economic Development Council (EDC) of Tampa Bay.
Some of the main goals of the EDC are to develop a thriving local economy, and find good paying jobs for the Tampa community. There are two main approaches to achieving these goals: 1) Offering confidential relocation and expansion services to domestic and international companies interested in doing business in Hillsborough County, and 2) Helping existing businesses to navigate tools and resources they need to expand and thrive in Tampa. By offering resources to businesses to make the transition easy, it not only benefits businesses, but members of the Tampa community as well.
Hillsborough County has had some of the highest average annual wages in Florida, and in addition to its low cost of living, it makes it a compelling place to live and work. Even throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, the EDC has been hard at work to help the economy and Tampa residents recover. Although there is still work to do, there have been a number of programs that the EDC is implementing to help recovery from the pandemic, including: a re-employment working group, a retention and business support working group, and a recovery working group.
While the quality of life in Tampa remains exceptional, it is consistently being marketed to businesses to encourage relocation to Hillsborough County. The EDC wants to sell Tampa in the most compelling way, and has many resources to help do so.
