ICTC Manufacturing Solutions is a full-Service Contract Manufacturer of custom wire harnesses, cable assemblies, printed circuit board assemblies and electronic box builds located in Brooksville, Florida. ICTC maintains many other facilities internationally including in countries such as China and the Philippines. As the present-day technology becomes increasingly more complex within U.S. Manufacturing, ICTC continues to cultivate its manufacturing presence through constant agility. One way in which this is accomplished is through obtaining a higher mix of complex products as a result of space allocation.
Of ICTC’s three manufacturing divisions, two are located in the newest and main ICTC building in Brooksville, FL. These divisions include EMS (Electronic Manufacturing Solutions) and CMS (Cable Manufacturing Solutions). On the CMS side, the challenge has been to create space and efficiency to take on new clients especially in the military and medical industry that require additional area for larger harnesses. With limited production space available, that has become a challenge.
ICTC hired an outside consultant and engaged an internal team to look at some LEAN manufacturing processes. The team put together a plan that completely re-oriented its production floor by making smaller more efficient lines that ran East-West, and as a result, ICTC has a much more flexible work area and can move machines more easily to be flexible to different project needs. The entire exercise created 6000 additional feet of manufacturing space and allowed ICTC to LEAN out much of its existing production.
The biggest benefit to ICTC’s clients is the peace of mind knowing that the facility has enough space to take on a larger production based upon its open layout, which in turn offers opportunities for more complex and flexible production.
