Hakeem Investments CEO Asif Hakeem On Tampa Development!

Asif on That Business ShowOn June 29, Asif Hakeem, CEO of Hakeem Investments, LLLP was featured on That Business Show with Jamie Meloni! Hakeem Investments specializes in commercial and multi-use residential developments. The company owns commercial office plazas, multifamily apartments, and homes in which it leases and manages through family ownership. Asif’s father, Dr. M.K. Hakeem, founded Hakeem Investments Florida, LLLP in 1967. Dr. Hakeem was a cardiovascular thoracic surgeon and Chief of South Florida Baptist Hospital for over forty years!

Involved at a young age, Asif apprenticed with his father and was able to watch many business deals with influential leaders within the community. It was in the 70’s that Asif’s father planted the seeds by acquiring a lot of land in the County in an area north of I-4 towards Plant City. Dr. Hakeem set up his company by diversifying Hakeem Investments’ portfolio. This helped the company survive during the 2008 market crash. Dr. Hakeem invested in other areas such as additional real estate and the stock market.

Hakeem Investments’ real estate portfolio includes many houses in Hillsborough County that it rents out. The company is also heavily invested in commercial real estate. In the future, Hakeem Investments plans to develop within the multi-family sector. Hakeem Investments maintains land next to the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino is currently being developed. Additionally, the company retains office spaces available to rent in Tampa on Dale Mabry as well as two large pre-built offices of about 12,000 square feet each.

Asif Hakeem is excited about the new developments happening in the Tampa Bay area. One of these possible developments is the possible move of the Rays to Tampa. Currently, the largest problem the team has is filling the seats as well as maintenance to the Sun Dome. It is his belief that the best location would be near the Fair Grounds. This is due to the accessibility of I-4 and Interstate-75. Asif goes on to suggest that another prime location for the Rays would be near the International Airport because of its close proximity to Raymond James Stadium, Steinbrenner Field, Al-Lopez Park & Tampa International Airport.

Asif also brought up in his interview the increase in popularity for a revolutionary new business, AirBnB, Inc. Due to AirBnB’s low prices and convenience, the company is taking off. Asif has recently become involved and is looking to make additional renovations to a few of its properties in order to increase profitability.

Asif also discussed the future of the Plant City area and why it will become a massive area for development due to the appeal of space and less congestion. The State of Florida is ranked number three as the most populated within the nation. As a result of the increase in population and growth, there will be a need for development throughout the surrounding regions of the Tampa Bay area.
