Emerging Leaders Evolution of Tampa Bay Vision Series Event Recap

Our Elevate team was fortunate enough to attend the Emerging Leaders Vision Series: Evolution of Tampa Bay virtual panel event. Among those sitting on the panel were some of the business leaders in Tampa Bay such as Greg Celestan CEO of Celestar Corporation, John Couris CEO of Tallahassee General Hospital, James Nozar CEO of Strategic Property Partners, Lakshmi Shenoy Founder of Embarc Collective & Matthew Mullarkey Director of the Doctor of Business Admin Program at USF Muma College of Business. These leaders discussed their perspectives of how Tampa will continue to grow & evolve into the future.

John Couris had some interesting insights into the future of Tampa, likening the city to Austin Texas ten years ago in how it is developing & drawing young business people into the area. With the development of the USF Medical school, the Medical Center, & CAMLS, he noted that there is a medical district being developed right here in Tampa. John went on to discuss the new partnership with international electronics company Philips & the world class clinicians that are being drawn to our city. They are being drawn by not only the incredibly affordable rates to live in Tampa, but also the intellectual capital that continues to grow here with the increase of the prestige of USF over the past few years. While the partnership between TGH & USF has been established for over 40 years, John told the audience he believes the relationship is entering its renaissance.

James Nozar went on to discuss the importance of building neighborhoods that are walkable in order to continue to accommodate the major growth Tampa has continued to experience. He mentioned the importance of communications infrastructure in the downtown area to continue to facilitate the growth near Water Street. This communications infrastructure will be vital to providing high speed internet to new developments in downtown. The conversation transitioned to the efforts of turning Tampa into a smart city through the usage of sensors embedded within public utilities such as light poles. This also ties in to the need of modern communications infrastructure, as this will be necessary to allow the city to continue transitioning into a smart city. Lakshmi Shenoy noted that a key to this future growth is related to harvesting data to optimize the efforts of businesses & to streamline the continued development.

The future of Tampa Bay is shining very bright indeed. With the thought leaders on this panel & the phenomenal leadership within our community, both business & political, Tampa is positioned perfectly to become one of the premier cities on the East coast. Elevate is committed to continuing to elevate these leaders and their vision of the future.
