Determined to take an innovative approach to providing essential business solutions, in 2017 the company built the Amgen Capability Center (ACC) in Tampa, Florida to deliver efficient and innovative global business solutions companywide to better reach and serve patients.

Responsible for the distribution of business-enabling services including operational, analytical, staff support and business support activities, the Tampa site focuses on reducing functional silos and creating a culture focused on performance and continuous improvement. This approach has resulted in improved collaboration, which innovates and streamlines processes for the entire enterprise. By providing these services in a better and more efficient manner, the Amgen Capability Center (ACC) has become a competitive advantage for the global company. In 2020, the ACC introduced Amgen Assist, a hub service that supports patients and healthcare practitioners.

While bringing innovative medicines to people suffering from serious diseases is the best way Amgen can contribute to the greater good, the company understands that society often confronts multiple challenges at once. The efforts of Amgen fall into four categories:
