Hakeem Investments Florida, LLLP is a Tampa Bay Investment company facilitating commercial and residential needs in Tampa Bay. The company was originally founded in 1967 by cardio thoracic surgeon, Dr. M. K. Hakeem. He completed his residencies in Central Florida and during this time, he fell in love with Plant City. He was one of the only multi-specialty surgeons in Plant City, Tampa, Zephyrhills, Sarasota, and Brandon along the I-4 corridor. Correspondingly, Dr. M. K. Hakeem was Chief of Hospital for 30 years at South Florida Baptist Hospital.

While still a surgeon, Dr. M. K. Hakeem took over a business, which he named ARL Properties. The company began investing in multi-family buildings but in 1996, he started researching heavy commercial offices and multi-family homes in Tampa. One of Dr. Hakeem’s first apartment complexes that he built was in the 80s and still remains on N Florida Ave. Furthermore, in 1996, the doctor started investing in commercial offices in Tampa. Interestingly enough, Dr. Kiran Patel was anchor tenant of Dr. M. K. Hakeem’s in 90s. It was in this location in which Dr. Kiran Patel re-developed Wellcare.

Because M. K. Hakeem was a surgeon, he relied on the support of his family to maintain his thriving businesses. Hakeem’s brother, Iqbal Khan was a civil and mega-structure engineer as well as a graduate from Florida International University. However, the most important player was Luqman Khan who assisted and was often referred to as the “work-force” or the “jack of all trades” within the family. Ultimately, the most significant aspect of Hakeem Investments lies within family synergy. The family synergy along with hard work and sacrifices are a huge reason why the company has been extremely successful.

Furthermore, Dr. M. K. Hakeem’s son, Asif Hakeem, is the current CEO of Hakeem Investment Florida, LLLP. Asif was born and raised in Plant City until he moved to Tampa and attended Tampa Catholic High School. While in high school, he became friends with now City of Tampa Councilman Guido Maniscalco. Guido Maniscalco assisted Asif in becoming integrated within Tampa’s society after moving from Plant City. Upon completion at Tampa Catholic, Asif attended the University of South Florida. As a local combination of education, he attended St. Petersburg College and Hillsborough Community College. However, Asif ultimately graduated from USF with a duel degree in biomedical science as well as general business administration with minors in finance and management.

Hakeem Investments Florida, LLLP is extremely excited for future and upcoming developments along East of the I-4 corridor. One of Hakeem Investments’ strategic properties is a 120,000 square foot lot on Hillsborough Avenue next to the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. The company plans develop the property for its best potential use. Because of the popularity of the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, the hotel is usually booked at least six months in advance. Consequently, there is a significant need for more hotels in the area. With that being said, much of the area along the I-4 corridor is projected to become prime development locations within the near future. With Hakeem Investments’ family name, credibility and long-standing history, this company’s passion and development will continue to grow alongside the Tampa Bay region.
