During the hurricane season, business owners must remind themselves that during a storm banks may not reopen for weeks. Small business owners must have financial capacities in place to be able to support themselves during that time. Also, building regulations such as impact windows ensure the safety of employees in the event of a hurricane.

When dealing with flooding, it is important to find out what levels of risk your business is located in. Business owners should communicate with insurance companies and educate themselves on the financial implications of flooding. Storm surges in Tampa may reach heights of 15-20 feet, in the event of such a storm it is important to back up storage and plan for recovery after the storm.
