Devidasa Kawal Appointed Chief Operating Officer at Help Us Grow Foundation to Advance Literacy Programs

Ms. Kawal has been in this role for eight months, during which she has been instrumental in leading the Help Us Grow Reading Program, an initiative focused on solving the literacy crisis in the United States.
About Devidasa Kawal:
Devidasa Kawal’s journey in education and leadership includes significant roles such as an Education Specialist at the Glazer Children’s Museum and leading the mathematics department in the New York City public school system. She also served as the Assistant Director of Strategic Initiatives. Ms. Kawal holds a Bachelor’s degree in Childhood Education and a dual degree in Language and Literature, along with a grant-funded Master’s in Mathematics and a Literacy Specialist endorsement from Columbia University.
Mentorship and Leadership:
Guided by mentorship from Dr. Michael Tomor, Executive Director of the Tampa Museum of Art, Ms. Kawal has developed a nuanced understanding of non-profit management. In her current role, she collaborates closely with Janine Broussard, the Founder and CEO of Help Us Grow Foundation, to spearhead initiatives that bolster the foundation’s reading programs, which provide access to educational experiences to elevate their success to become proficient readers by third grade.
