Chris Chambers, Security and Emergency Management Manager at Tampa Electric Company (TECO), appeared on Elevate, Inc. Today episode 16. Chambers shares his story on how he got where he is today and what makes him proud to be a part of the Tampa Bay community.
Originally from Hattiesburg, Mississippi Chambers joined the U.S. Coast Guard right out of high school, which allowed him the opportunity to travel all around the world. Coming off of active duty, Chambers continued his service as a Police Officer for a couple years before getting recalled back to the Coast Guard for active duty. In 2013 he settled down in the Tampa Bay area where he started his career with TECO as a security specialist. Due to his experience in the U.S. Coast Guard and the police workforce, Chris is able to deal with minor and major threats that come to Tampa Bay.
“In Security Operation and Emergency Management no day is every the same. Whether you’re dealing with a threat, whether it be from a customer, internal threat, cybercrime, or whatever you have to respond to that, so you’re always preparing for those events and same with Emergency Management…”
With his experience in the U.S. Coast Guard, Chambers has a lot of passion and dedication towards his country and community. He advocates for the maritime community by offering career opportunities, workforce development, mental health care, and better care for veterans and their family. Chambers sits on the Tampa Bay Harbor Safety and Security Committee and Area Maritime Security Committee. Chris not only devotes his career to preventing threats throughout Tampa Bay, but also his personal time.
Chambers ambition and commitment to bettering the Tampa Bay community is shown through his professional work and organizations that he supports daily. He strives to make the community safer for his family and everyone within the Tampa Bay region by removing threats and supporting people in need.
