Hiring the Right Talent – Post Covid a presentation conducted by John Flanagan, CEO of CareerSource Tampa Bay on June 30th, 2021. In January of 2019 John took the position as the CEO of CareerSource Tampa Bay and immediately changed the mission statement to, “Connecting Talent to Opportunity.” During his recent presentation he discussed in depth how to source and hire the best talent after a pandemic. During the Covid -19 Pandemic, John also worked with the Board of Directors and the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners to create the R3 – Rapid Response and Recovery Program, providing $11-12 million in training and direct placement opportunities to serve than 2,000 job seekers adversely impacted by Covid -19. Tampa is known to be a growing area and post Covid-19 almost 90,000 individuals relocated to Tampa in the last year which is drastic compared to place such as California. John shared in the upcoming five years; 87,800 new jobs are expected to take place here in our community. To some surprise the top hard skill in demand currently is merchandising and advertising. With the data presented viewers are exposed to underlying facts of the labor sector and are educated on the growth of the community.
