Boys & Girls Clubs of the Suncoast CEO Recognized as Philanthropist of the Year by the Tampa Bay Business & Wealth Magazine

We are very excited to recognize the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Suncoast (BGCS) as the Philanthropist of the Year by the Tampa Bay Business & Wealth Magazine in the larger nonprofit category. The BGCS’s mission is to provide high quality out of school time Club experiences proven to ensure our young people, especially those who need us most, are on track to graduate from high school with a plan, demonstrate good character and citizenship, and live a healthy lifestyle.

BGCS serve over 21,000 kids and teens across six clubs and a middle school. Tampa Bay employers are looking for a talented workforce. BGCS provides job skill training and career exploration programs and places 128 teens in paid internship programs.

There are over 2,300 Pinellas County juvenile arrests a year, and ZERO BGCS youth who were in prevention programs were arrested. At BGCS 313 children are served meals daily with more than 200,000 meals and snacks served this year.

On the education front, 44% of Pinellas County youth are not reading at grade level by third grade, whereas 89.4% of Club kids gain or maintain reading skills. Additionally, 25% of Pinellas County youth have considered suicide. The Clubs have provided over 500 therapy sessions.

BGCS also has achieved status the Platinum Seal of Transparency with GuideStar and 4-Star rating with Charity Navigator, a recognition reserved for a select few non-profit organizations.

We are extremely thankful for the important work the BGCS is doing in the Tampa Bay area and are excited to highlight this achievement!
