BAPS Charities Tampa To Hold Walk Green 2017 At Tampa’s Riverwalk

For over a decade BAPS Charities has dedicated its efforts across a range of charitable activities and projects across USA. Since last year, it has partnered with The Nature Conservancy to help plant trees across North America in partnership with The Nature Conservancy and Plant a Billion Trees initiative, which resulted in 70,000 trees being planted in 2016. Through the help of volunteers, BAPS Charities has worked to take the crucial steps in environmental preservation by planting trees in cities and large suburbs. These steps help to provide clean air, a robust ecosystem, and a culture of sustainability that creates a routine for protecting “green spaces.” On June 11, BAPS Charities of Tampa will hold its annual Walk Green 2017 on Tampa’s Riverwalk to raise funds for The Nature Conservancy and Hillsborough County Fire Department.

BAPS Charities believes in serving globally by acting locally. Forests in the southeastern region of the United States help to filter 50% of the nation’s water supply and absorb 12% of carbon emissions. Not only do trees provide us with food, oxygen and natural habitats, but also they help to keep our cities and streets at a cooler temperature. These benefits led to The Nature Conservancy taking the initiative to plant 99,750 trees for the “Plant a Billion Trees” projects in the Mississippi Floodplain Forest & Long Leaf Pine Forest, which hopes to plant a billion trees by 2025.

The Nature Conservancy’s “Healthy Trees, Healthy Cities” project was created to enhance forests in city and urban areas. TNC will plant 250 trees of various sizes throughout cities within their urban network. TNC will work to maintain these trees via tree health monitoring, making sure the trees stay healthy and function to the best of their ability.

“This walk is a golden opportunity for us all to understand the important role trees play in the ecosystem and how we can help to replenish them,” stated walk volunteer Kamlesh Darji.

If you would like to get involved, there are plenty of ways to show support. Corporate contributions from your company or small business are greatly appreciated, as well as individual donations. If you would like to become hands on with the cause, you can create your own fundraising page or join the walk as part of a team that builds awareness for environmental protection. If you or someone you know would like to become a sponsor of the event, BAPS Charities has developed sponsorship opportunities for your corporate commitment

It is BAPS Charities mission to serve communities with their global network of resources and years of experience.
