absolute-pharmOn July 29, 2016, Absolute Pharmacy CEO Andreas Dettlaff and Director of Operations David Joseph visited That Business Show with Jamie Meloni to shed some light on the Compounding Pharmacy industry. That Business Show with Jamie Meloni features business leaders in Tampa Bay eager to share their story and experiences with the Tampa Bay community.

David Joseph began with a history of compounding pharmacy that dates back over 100 years ago. Originally, compounding pharmacy was the only means through which drugs were created. Compounding pharmacy was “the way of the land” for quite some time and was able to provide unique, specialized medications for customers. In 1953, the creation of prescription drugs sparked the creation of the commercial pharmacies we are familiar with today.

Mr. Joseph went on to explain there is a business need for both types of pharmacies in today’s market. There is a growing demand for compounding pharmacy in the anti-aging industry where medications are assisting individuals in controlling weight and looking younger. “Compounding pharmacy is a complement to this industry” says Mr. Joseph. Compounding pharmacy offers great solutions in the areas of long-term wellness, pediatric and veterinary medicine.

CEO Andreas Dettlaff has been in the healthcare industry for over a decade. He recognized the need for compounding pharmacy and started Absolute Pharmacy two and half years ago. Andreas is excited about the growth of the company, “The last 12 months have been amazing.” They have the ability to create a wide variety of medications and provide the right formulas that their customers require. “Any physician, any group and practice can come to us.”
