Taylor Ranker, CEO of Questmont Strategic Wealth Advisors, recently appeared on the fourth episode of the Elevate Today Podcast. The Elevate Today podcast is a show hosted by Elevate Inc CEO Aakash Patel that showcases outstanding entrepreneurs & business & community leaders.
Taylor discussed his roots being from central Pennsylvania but moving to Los Angeles as a teen. He began his career in LA and eventually moved back to Pennsylvania to run a branch. After realizing he felt a fiduciary duty to advocate on behalf of the client as opposed to a sales function focus. Questmont’s business’ roots started in Pennsylvania, where the main branch as well as another branch still operate. They now have 13 employees across three branches & two states. Questmont has been doing business in Tampa since 1996 and Taylor purchased a home in the area in 2005. “I’ve had a love affair with the Bay area since 1995.” Ranker said about the Tampa Bay area. He went on to talk about how COVID-19 had accelerated the plan to open the Tampa branch on West Cypress Street from a three year plan to a three month plan. They provided clients triage to their investments during COVID19 by providing wealth stress tests to confirm their assets were secured.
Taylor went on to talk about Questmont’s community involvement here in Tampa & their recent $10,000 donation to the AdventHealth Carrollwood Foundation for a new MRI machine. He told Aakash when asked about his mindset on giving back to the community, “We are only stewards of our money and property. The more we let it [wealth & success] flow through you, the more it seems to flow in general.” Taylor went on to say “If the community is going to be good to us, at a minimum we have to be good to it.”
Taylor spoke about his grandfather being a mentor in his life & his grandfather’s experience in the Great Depression. He went on to talk about his grandfather’s success during WWII starting a furniture & appliance business, but talked about how his grandfather didn’t have a company like Questmont to look out for him and therefore didn’t have a succession plan. When his grandfather passed away in the 1970’s, he experience the difficulties of not having these types of plans in place which drives him to this day to provide these services to his clients.
