On August 7th, the City of Tampa held its annual Purple Heart Day flag-raising. Clerk staff were honored to be in the room with several Purple Heart recipients, including two of their own. Tracy and Larissa from the Clerk’s Finance Department were in attendance with their families. Tracy’s son, Alex, is a Purple Heart recipient, as is Larissa. Each honoree received a special Congressional Record commendation from the House of Representatives for their sacrifices, presented by Congressman Gus Bilirakis. Special thanks to U.S. Representative Kathy Castor for supporting the commendation and to Tampa City Council Member Luis Viera for hosting this event every year so that these brave individuals can be recognized for all they have given to our country.
