Being part of a Chamber of Commerce is a great way to meet other driven, outgoing, and kind individuals in the community. The Indo US Chamber, a business professional platform that encourages educational engagement and networking opportunities in Tampa, hosted its Virtual September Member Social on September 30th. This meeting focused on the importance of not only connecting with other members of the chamber, but also understanding the foundation of the chamber.
Through trivia questions, groups were able to discuss important aspects of the chamber, such as when it was founded, the purpose and mission, awards won, and leadership positions. Team members had the opportunity to consult one another before responding to the question, which gave everyone in the group a chance to practice group-thinking and teamwork skills. If the question was answered incorrectly by the group, there was an opportunity to discuss the correct answer, which helped educate the members on important parts of the chamber.
Hanisha Patel, President of the Indo US Chamber stated “It is important to know the history of your chamber, and understand where its roots come from. Once you understand its founding values, you have the opportunity to make a greater impact”.
Although this pandemic has been difficult, being a part of a chamber allows opportunities to grow, while practicing proper safety protocols. Many of the Indo US Chamber events this past summer were held online, in addition to the member social this past week. The Indo US Chamber does not charge members to join, as they believe that it is more important to have a value-driven organization that has various sponsorships to cover costs that may be incurred. Since learning from others is important, members are encouraged to help one another and offer skills that they may have to create a powerful and reliable community.
