Disrupt the Bay Presents at the Elevate, Inc. Advisory Board Meeting

Monica Angel, CEO of Save the Kids Foundation speaks at the Elevate, Inc. Advisory Board Meeting on October 2nd regarding their upcoming event Disrupt the Bay. The Elevate, Inc. clients and Advisory Board had the chance to hear about the Disrupt the Bay event and how the event is helping fight kids’ cancer.

Disrupt the Bay is taking place November 7th, 2019 from 12-8 pm. Save the Kids Foundation has partnered with USF Muma College of Business for this innovative healthcare technology conference. The event consists of keynote speaker Jay Samit, a panelist series with Jennifer Greenman, Alan Weiss, Summerpahl Kahlon, Tim Tuohy, and Sharon Harrell, and a variety of Mentor Madness Startup pitches. All proceeds from Disrupt the Bay will go toward kids’ cancer research.

Why fundraise for kids’ cancer? To start off with, cancer is the number one killer of kids in the United States. While the incidence rates are rising, research funding is stagnant leaving many childhood cancers underfunded or with no research funding at all. In the past 35 years, only four new drugs were designed and approved to specifically address childhood cancers compared to the thousands developed to treat adult cancers. In many cases, these children are dying from the cancer or its related treatments.  If they are lucky enough to survive, they live with a lifetime of serious medical issues including secondary cancers and organ damage.  Most current protocols for childhood cancers include the use of dosed-down adult chemotherapy drugs designed for adults.  It’s unacceptable!
