CITY Furniture’s Pink Pumpkins
Hey Friends!
I’m inviting you to be a superhero.
This October, we will be launching our 4th Annual Pink Pumpkins Campaign in honor of my late mom, Doreen Koenig and all those affected by breast cancer.
If you don’t remember, the Pink Pumpkins got their start with my mom, Doreen, who everyone thought of as our CITY mom. She was a superhero, always known for her philanthropy and helping wherever she could. One of her biggest causes was ending breast cancer well before she was diagnosed. In the last few days of her life at the hospital, she had an idea that my Dad and I would give out thousands of pink pumpkin buckets in our stores and around our community. It was her special and honestly, heroic way to fill the community with the color of hope, spreading breast cancer awareness.
She envisioned moms, children, and families across South Florida would be trick-or-treating with these pink pumpkin buckets on Halloween, showing those affected by this terrible disease that they are not alone.
After Mom lost her valiant battle, these tiny Pink Pumpkin buckets grew into something mightier. They’ve become a tribute, a mission, and a movement to end breast cancer. They’ve propelled a collective effort to be each other’s heroes by taking action and raising funds. These “Pink Pumpkins” are a symbol of my mom’s memory.
This October, we are taking the “Pink Pumpkins” initiative to the next level by asking you to put on your cape and become a superhero. Our #1 goal is to raise as much awareness and as much money as possible for the American Cancer Society. This year, we are on a mission to raise $750,000 for breast cancer research.
With that in mind, I am humbly asking your organization to consider making a contribution of $1,500 or $2,500 directly to the American Cancer Society in support of our efforts.
For your generous $1,500 donation, you will receive an in-person visit from the CITY Community team and Pink Pumpkins truck (applicable to South Florida-based partner locations), which includes the Pink Pumpkins Experience Basket, so you can show what it means to be a superhero with stickers, wristbands, capes, and more!
You’ll also receive a tagged post from the CITY Furniture social media account, co-branded window cling and magnet—plus, two tickets to the Florida Panthers Pink Pumpkins Partner Appreciation Night at FLA Live.
And this year we have added the opportunity for recognition at the Broward Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk with a $2,500 donation. You’ll receive bonus branding and next-level recognition. You’ll receive two (2) Pink Pumpkins Track Markers at the Broward Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk, one (1) Story Mention on the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Instagram page, and a special shoutout at the event.
Of course, there are also some other awesome partner perks—please see attached.
But most importantly of all, we’re giving you the opportunity to join us and the American Cancer Society in the Get Screened Challenge.
Cancer screening should be a regular part of your life—especially more than ever since cancer screenings dropped by 90% during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. The American Cancer Society recommends screening tests before a person has symptoms to help find cancer early, when it may be easier to treat.
I’m honored to Chair of the CEOs Against Cancer Florida Chapter. We are committed to supporting the health of our employees, customers, and community. Please join me in taking the pledge to Get Screened.
Also, this year’s MSABC walk will be on Saturday, October 21st at FLA Live. I’d be honored if you’d consider joining us for our “Pink Pumpkins” fundraising initiative in memory of Mom, your own loved ones, and to show those affected that they are not alone.
To participate or learn more about how to become a Pink Pumpkins sponsor, please email @Lindsay Widett (cc’d here).
If you’re unable to participate physically at this time, but would like to help support the American Cancer Society, please go to www.cancer.org/pinkpumpkins
Donate by September 1st to get your basket by October 1st!
I hope you find it in your heart to be someone’s hero by helping us spread awareness, fun, love—and most importantly, infinite hope for this important cause—our health depends on it!
God bless you and thank you so much for your consideration!
