Building Easier CEO Will Daniel recently wrapped up a trip to eastern Europe. While en route to Moldova, Will and his guide struck up a conversation about the state of the region due to the war that currently ravages Ukraine. During the discussion, Will’s guide told him that a good friend worked with a non-profit in Ukraine. Will remarked that he wished he could help and see Ukraine for himself, eventually asking the guide “Will you take me there?”. The guide eventually took Will to Odesa, the third most populous city in Ukraine and a major seaport and transport hub city in southwestern Ukraine. Currently, there are over 120,000 reported casualties and over 170,000 injured from the war according to a NY Times article from August.
Once Will arrived in Odesa, sporting his Tampa Bay hat and shirt, he sought out the Red Cross to help provide a monetary donation to help with relief efforts. When Will arrived, the Red Cross field operations were currently shut down due to a recent Russian bombing offensive in the area. However, once back in the States Will was able to get the needed donation to the Red Cross online. When asked about what was striking about Ukraine during war time, Will told us “It’s amazing how life continues on even with everything happening around them. These people are making the best of an impossible situation.” We are extremely proud to boast an entrepreneur and community leader like Will Daniel in our local community.
