An Inauguration Tampa Will Not Soon Forget

Mayor Bob Buckhorn was inaugurated for his second term as the leader of the City of Tampa on Wednesday, April 1 at the Tampa Convention Center. The inauguration ceremony energized an already enthusiastic crowd. Messages of unity from various local religious leaders and many outstanding performances by the St. John Progressive Missionary Baptist Church Choir made for an extraordinary event that reminds us of exactly why #TampaHasSwagger.

The highlight of the event, of course, was Mayor Buckhorn’s inspiring speech. Mayor Buckhorn’s words of community and his strong belief in the resilience of the people of this city struck a strong chord with all those in attendance. His comprehensive plans to #ElevateTampa include making Tampa a cohesive community: “We are making Tampa a more connected community – 5,000 new streetlights, double the miles of bike lanes and a new bike share program.” Mayor Buckhorn also emphasized multiple times that we, as Tampanians, have the power to write our own story and seize this moment to #ElevateTampa.

The Mayor frequently reiterated the phrase, “Our story is not finished yet” and he couldn’t be more right. From everyone on #TeamElevate, we congratulate Mayor Bob Buckhorn on his reelection and we look forward to see how he will be #HelpingOurCity over the next four years!
