Jerry Beers, Co-Founder of Five Pack Creative shares his thoughts on the outlook of mobile apps growth.
“We’re certain that more and more consumers will expect first-class mobile apps for interactions with companies. Covid has accelerated this, with more transactions happening remotely. More people are working and socializing remotely. Even if things start to get back to normal, we expect by then people will be accustomed and enjoy transacting business while mobile.
But the spread of other devices that fall into the mobile umbrella will continue and probably accelerate. No longer does mobile development just mean an app on your phone or tablet. Already, watches enable users to socialize, communicate, and purchase things. And cars are integrating with phones more and more – this is still in its infancy but will continue to grow. The smart speaker market adds to this. Put these together and the tide is growing for users to interact with technology in ways that are significantly different from the web paradigm that we are used to. We’re reaching a tipping point where people won’t expect to sit at a computer and type but will expect to interact with technology in a way that integrates into them living their lives.
Finally, this may be the year that augmented reality starts to go mainstream. It may still be a year or so away, but it’s close. It may be tempting to write this off as primarily a change relevant to gaming, but it won’t be – it will revolutionize (again) how we interface with technology.”
