Sabal Trust Company Sponsors a Different Kind of Superhero

Not all superheroes wear capes, but in this case…they wear colorful, whimsical capes! You may have seen some of these imaginative dog sculptures around Tampa and St. Petersburg and wondered “what is that?” Upon closer inspection, you’ll notice each dog is designed to represent a Southeastern Guide Dogs sponsor.

Southeastern Guide Dogs (SGD) transforms lives by bringing together inspiring people and extraordinary dogs. They create and nurture partnerships between visually impaired individuals and guide dogs, facilitating life’s journey with mobility, independence and dignity. SGD also provides service dogs for veterans living with post-traumatic stress disorder. Their services are free of charge and they do not receive government funding.

Sabal Trust Company is a proud sponsor of SGD and will be unveiling their custom designed superhero on Friday, April 28. While we can’t reveal how it looks quite yet, we know “Trusty” feature the Sabal Trust Company’s signature sabal palm leaf.

Susan Brennan, Managing Principal in Sabal Trust Company’s Tampa Office, has been spearheading the sponsorship with SGD. I was involved with the organization when I lived in Sarasota and have always been inspired by it’s mission of providing these smart loveable dogs to those in need…especially for our wounded warriors. I even heard the American Sniper’s Widow, Taya Kyle, speak about her dog and how much he calms her anxiety. It is a wonderful organization right here in Palmetto with a national focus.” Explains Susan of her involvement with the organization. The most exciting part about these superheroes is that they are all uniquely different but represent one great cause.

All are invited to join the first Tampa Superhero Dog unveiling and party this Friday, April 28 at 6 PM at Curtis Hixon Park. Sabal Trust Company’s Dog, “Trusty”, was painted by local artist Joan Garcia and will have a home by the Glazer Children’s Museum for all to admire.
