Pilot Bank is always on a mission to continue the education of its employees. Recently, Jessica Barr, AVP and assistant manager for Loan Operations, was nominated, and had the opportunity to attend the Florida Bankers Association (FBA) School of Banking. This rigorous three -year program provides invaluable education to participants, distinguishing them from their peers.
The FBA is a highly esteemed organization that works hard to ensure banking in Florida is the best it can be for the communities and people working in the industry. In addition to providing educational opportunities, the organization also works with legislature on fair and reasonable regulation that promotes a sound partnership between banks and their clients. During the program, Barr learned from some of the most esteemed and seasoned bankers in Florida as well as professors from accredited universities. She also had the privilege to work one-on-one with several highly-respected financial industry consultants within the state of Florida.
“The educational program itself was extremely valuable. But the relationships I formed over three years with my peers from other financial institutions were the best part! I made lifetime friends with people I trust and can call to consult. I have partners in almost every area of banking and from all over the state that are willing to provide support. Learning with and from each other ultimately makes us all better equipped to advocate for and serve the needs of our customers,” says Barr.
Pilot Bank was honored that Ms. Barr served as CEO of her simulation team. This position allowed Barr to lead the team through their bank project and team presentation to the acting board of the Florida School of Banking.
The comprehensive program allowed Barr to learn more about the entire banking industry as well as her role in promoting economic growth. As the assistant manager of loan operations, Barr and her team is responsible for the entire life of every loan, post-underwriting through payoff, and her FBA experience provided valuable context for what Barr currently does on a day-to-day basis.
Barr’s involvement int his great program is more proof that the team at Pilot Bank is dedicated to the Tampa Bay community and providing a better way of personal banking. For more information on the team and the services they provide, check out their website here.
