Michelle Royal, CEO at RIDG (Royal Innovation Design Group), was featured on That Business Show with Jamie Meloni where she shared more about RIDG and her journey.
RIDG is a strategic consulting firm with the mission to build better innovators and solve complex issues for various companies. Michelle Royal founded RIDG in 2013 after years of working throughout the world in the field of innovation. One such opportunity was working with the EU (European Union) on an economic development project as the Leading Innovation Coach.
Michelle Royal grew-up engulfed by innovation. Both of her parents were two hard-working entrepreneurs whom in many ways had lived the “American Dream.” For every wild idea her father had, her mother had a system that was able to translate that idea and make it into a reality. Michelle explained that there are many types of innovators and for every innovator there is always another to support them.
The idea for RIDG occurred when Michelle volunteered at the 2006 Sarasota International Design Summit It was there that Michelle realized her true passion lay within the use of innovation to unlock an individual or a company’s potential. She recognized then that everyone in the world has the capacity and knowledge to trigger their innovative power.
Because there are various types of innovators, RIDG assists businesses in effectively working with their teams. Michelle explains that one of the more common issues among businesses is the “grass is greener” effect. This occurs when clients or employees question a company’s processes and services because it has no clear message. This, in turn, leads the clients, employees, vendors, and leadership to seek solutions elsewhere. RIDG’s role is to reach these individuals and help them to see the fertile land in which they stand and how they may build their ideas and innovation in order to create lasting change. By doing this, it allows them the opportunity to grow with the company, build a long-term partnership, as well as improve the overall story that is being told within the company.
Along with remedying complex problems, a main focus at RIDG is to assist companies with their internal branding by helping them convey their stories in a clear and concise manner. RIDG helps to achieve this mainly through storytelling. Because innovation is the realized value of an idea, RIDG looks at a company’s successes while encompassing its story and mission. By doing this, the company finds clarity and discovers things individuals might have in common with others as well as what separates them.
