On July 29, Dr. Michael O’Neal went on air with Debra Evans in the Morning on WTIS 1110 AM. Dr. Michael O’Neal is the founder of Cooperative Med, Tampa Bay’s first concierge medical practice. He met with Debra Evans to share about his journey and what inspired him to create the first non-transferred concierge medical practice.
During his residency, Dr. O’Neal decided that he wanted to create a better way to serve his patients. After much thought and planning he decided that he could provide better medical care for his patients in a low volume practice supported by membership fees. In 2002, he opened Cooperative Med, the first concierge medical practice in Tampa Bay. At first, he had to self-market his practice to the community. Fortunately, he is extremely media savvy and was able to gain media attention quickly. The community quickly began to take notice of his unique concierge approach and he had earned a loyal following of patients. As his practice evolved and gained national attention, his patients became his main source for promoting Cooperative Med.
Currently, Cooperative Med serves patients from Miami to Los Angeles using technology or having Dr. O’Neal traveling to each patient as needed. However, Dr. O’Neal remains very loyal to the Tampa Bay community and plans on staying here as his home. He feels very strongly connected to the Tampa Bay community for many reasons. One of his main reasons for remaining loyal to our community is that Cooperative Med was founded here and he enjoys serving Tampa Bay.
