On June 9, 2026, the Brandon Rotary welcomed Dara Shareef, Shareholder and Board Director at Benchmark International, for an insightful presentation focused on resilience,leadership, and the importance of reputation.

Drawing from his own professional journey, Shareef shared how he experienced major career setbacks, including losing his job after relocating from Rochester to Boston and again during the 2008 financial crisis when institutional capital disappeared. Through those challenges, he learned valuable lessons about adapting to uncertainty and moving forward when plans unexpectedly change.

After relocating to Tampa following the recession, Shareef joined Benchmark International and began building the next chapter of his career. Throughout his presentation, he emphasized that while careers, companies, and circumstances may change, a strong reputation and meaningful relationships remain invaluable assets.

Despite a shortened presentation, Shareef left attendees with a memorable message: preparation, perseverance, and integrity often determine how successfully individuals navigate life’s most challenging transitions.
