Baker Barrios Builds Foley Enners Nathe Lacrosse Center!

The Foley Enners Nathe Lacrosse Center is one of Baker Barrios Architects’ current projects for The United States Military Academy at West Point. West Point is a four-year coeducational federal service academy located in West Point, New York. All students after their fourth year will be commissioned as officers. This is the first year at West Point a Division-1 Women’s Lacrosse Team has existed.

The Lacrosse Center is 18,000 square feet and expected to be completed by August of 2016. The first floor of the Lacrosse Center will contain both men and women’s locker rooms, space for coaches, medical training facilities for both teams as well as on-site equipment storage. The second floor of the Lacrosse Center will hold separate team rooms that will overlook Michie Stadium along with a viewing deck that looks south onto the football field. The separate team rooms provide players space to study and socialize, allowing them to build relationships amongst one another both on and off the field. These rooms are also furnished with televisions and lounge furniture providing for a dual function on game day as VIP luxury boxes. The second floor will also contain a multipurpose room which will serve as an area to hold functions such as team meals and award ceremonies.

Rob Ledford, Managing Partner at Baker Barrios has been involved with West Point since the 2001 bi-centennial campaign, managing several projects including the Foley Indoor Practice Facility and the Anderson Rugby Complex.

Several former lacrosse players have played an important role in the development of the Lacrosse Center. Some of these generous donors include William Foley, Gary Giglio, Randy Quirk and Will Weathersby. The largest donor, William Foley, Class of 1967, donated to the Lacrosse Center in order to honor two former classmates and great lacrosse players, Raymond Enners and Mike Nathe who were both killed in Vietnam. Mr. Foley had previously pledged $15 million towards the continuation of the “Margin of Excellence” facility upgrade project. With Mr. Foley and the other donors’ generous support, West Point will be able to offer a first-class facility for both men’s and women’s lacrosse teams!
